Nintendo Direct 11/12/2015

Today we saw alot of Nintendo news by the way of a new Nintendo Direct video.  While bittersweet since Satoru Iwata passed away this past July and had always been a staple of these videos, Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Amie and Bill Trinen from the Nintendo Treehouse do a wonderful job filling in some big shoes.  The video in it’s entirety is below, but here are some of the highlights.

Super Smash Brothers:

While the news for this doesn’t come until the end of the video, it pretty much broke some of the internet.  Cloud from Final Fantasy VII will be a playable character in Super Smash Brothers Brawl for both 3DS and Wii U.  No release date has been announced, but the preview ends with announcement that there will be a special Super Smash Brothers Broadcast in December.  The preview of gameplay is below.

A lot of Pokemon news in this one.  There was a preview of Super Mystery Dungeon and Pokken Tournament.  But what probably got mouths salivating is Nintendo plans to release the original Gameboy versions of Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow.  It will have the features of the originals including trading Pokemon with other players via wireless from system to system.  All games will be released through the Nintendo Eshop February 27th, 2016.

Animal Crossing:

Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival was previewed.  The game is set for release tomorrow November 13th.  The game will include the Isabelle and Digby Amiibos. Also avaliable tomorrow will be the Amiibos: KK Slider, Tom Nook, Cyrus, Reese, and Mabel.  The game will utilize all Animal Crossing Amiibos, plus those Amiibo cards you’ve been using for Animal Crossing Happy Home Design will be compatible as well.  The second series of Animal Crossing Amiibo cards will be released on January 22nd, 2016 along with Amiibos Blathers, Kicks, Celeste, and Mr. Resetti.

The Legend of Zelda:

While we are all still bummed by the delay of a Wii U version of The Legend of Zelda, Nintendo has given us something to gnaw on in the meantime.  Nintendo will be releasing a HD version of the Wii classic, Twilight Princess for the Wii U.  Also coming with the game will be a Wolf Link/Midna Amiibo.  All other Legend of Zelda related Amiibos will be compatible with the game as well.  The set will be made avaliable March 4th, 2016.

Hyrule Warriors was also previewed for the 3DS, and new characters have been added. Tetra, Toon Link, and the King of Hyrule from the Windwaker will be playable characters in this version.  A new original character was introduced, Linkle, a female version of the character Link.  And before everyone gets their panties in a wrinkle about Link being a guy, hey we know. But there is a ton of artwork of a Genderbent Link.  Just look on Pinterest.  My favorite is done by the artist Genzoman.

Hyrule Warriors 3DS is set for release on March 25th, 2016.

There you have it.  Along with release dates for Fire Emblem Fates Birthright and Conquest on Feburary 19th, you can bet I will be throwing all my money Nintendos way.  The whole video is below.  Enjoy.
